Chlorophytum comosum "Irish" is an evergreen perennial herbaceous plant of the family Asparagaceae. This cultivar features distinct marginal variegation. The linear-lanceolate leaves have a wide, solid green central zone flanked by thin, bright white stripes on both margins. The plant forms a dense, compact rosette and spreads via fleshy, water-storing rhizomes. Under optimal conditions, it produces long, drooping stolons with small, star-shaped white flowers and vegetative offsets.

Chlorophytum Comosum Care Guide:

Hardiness zone (USDA zone): 9–11.
Light: Bright, indirect sunlight. It can tolerate medium light or partial shade, but direct sun can bleach or scorch the leaves.
Watering: Water thoroughly when the top 1–2 inches of the soil feels dry. Avoid overwatering to prevent root rot. It is sensitive to fluoride in tap water, so rainwater or distilled water is preferred to avoid brown leaf tips.
Temperature: Ideal range is between 60°F and 75°F. It can tolerate temperatures down to 50°F, but protect it from freezing and cold drafts.
Humidity: Moderate to high humidity (around 40–60%) is best. If indoor air is dry, mist the leaves occasionally or use a pebble tray with water.
Soil: Well-draining, loamy, and porous potting mix (such as regular potting soil mixed with perlite or bark).
Fertilizer: Apply a balanced, water-soluble liquid houseplant fertilizer diluted to half-strength once a month during spring and summer. Do not fertilize in winter.
