This cultivar belongs to the Aroid family (Araceae), derived from species native to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. In its natural environment, this species grows as an epiphyte, using aerial roots to anchor itself and climb up trees. The chartreuse foliage color is a genetic variation that causes a lower level of chlorophyll compared to the wild green form. It is a highly resilient indoor vine known for its air-purifying qualities.
Philodendron 'Lemon Lime' Care Guide:
USDA Zones: 10-11
Light: Medium to bright indirect light. In low light, leaves lose neon intensity and turn darker green.
Watering: Water when the top third of soil is dry. Drainage is required to avoid root rot from soggy soil.
Temperature: Warm household temperatures between 65–80°F. Protect from cold winter drafts and temperatures below 58°F.
Humidity: Average household humidity around 40–60%. Benefits from occasional misting or a warm shower to mimic its tropical environment.
Soil: Loose, well-draining, aerated potting mix. A combination of potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark works perfectly.
Fertilizer: Feed once a month during spring and summer with balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer diluted to half strength. Do not feed in winter.
It is advisable to purchase a heat pack during cold weather: Heat Pack
