Philodendron 'Micans' is a decorative vining liana featuring slender, fast-growing stems. Its main highlight is the small, heart-shaped foliage with a distinct velvety texture. The upper side of the leaf blade shifts tones depending on the light angle, ranging from deep dark green to rich bronze-brown and iridescent purple with a satin sheen. The underside of young leaves displays a pronounced reddish-burgundy or terracotta hue.
Philodendron Hederaceum 'Micans' Care Guide:
Light: Bright indirect light. Bright light maximizes vibrant coloration and iridescent sheen. Direct sunlight scorches the velvet foliage.
Watering: Moderate. Water thoroughly after the top 50% of the soil dries out. Prone to root rot in soggy substrate.
Temperature: Ideal: 64–81°F (18–27°C). Minimum: 59°F (15°C). Keep away from cold drafts, air conditioners, and heating vents.
Humidity: 50–60% or higher. Mist the air regularly, use a humidifier, or place the pot on a pebble tray.
Soil: Loose, chunky, well-draining aroid mix. Blend potting soil with perlite, orchid bark, and peat moss for aeration.
Support: Grows cascading or climbing a moss pole. Vertical support stimulates the vine to grow larger leaves over time.
Fertilizing: Balanced liquid fertilizer monthly during spring and summer. Dilute to half-strength. Do not feed during winter.
It is advisable to purchase a heat pack during cold weather: Heat Pack
