Sphagnum Moss - 5.3oz (150gr)

Compressed sphagnum moss application
Compressed sphagnum moss bricks are versatile, space-saving blocks of dry, organic moss that expand exponentially when soaked in water. They are primarily applied in horticulture for orchids, carnivorous plants, and seed propagation, and in zoology as a high-humidity terrarium substrate for reptiles and amphibians.

Preparation and Activation
Soaking: Place the brick into warm or room-temperature water.
Expansion: Let it absorb water for about 10 min. until it fully fluffs out (a 150g brick typically expands into 9-12 liters of moss).
Rinsing and Squeezing: Rinse the expanded moss thoroughly and squeeze out excess water until you reach the desired dampness.

Key Gardening Applications
Orchid Growing: Acts as a breathable, moisture-retentive medium for potting epiphytic orchids.
Seed Starting and Propagation: Provides a sterile, moisture-rich environment for rooting cuttings and germinating seeds.
Carnivorous Plants: Used standalone or mixed into soil substrates for plants like Venus flytraps and pitcher plants that require nutrient-poor, acidic moisture.
Kokedama and Floristry: Used to wrap root balls for Japanese moss balls or to lock moisture inside decorative floral setups.

Reptile and Terrarium Applications
Substrate and Humid Hides: Placed inside enclosures to maintain high ambient humidity and assist with healthy shedding for reptiles, amphibians, snails.
Bioactive Setups: Serves as a supportive lower layer or micro-habitat buffer for tropical frogs, salamanders, and invertebrates.
Egg Incubation: Functions as a clean, damp medium for safely incubating reptile eggs.
